Valkyrie Profile Lennethoriginally scheduled to be launched on the same day as Valkyrie Elysium next week, has officially been delayed. The game will instead be available on December 22, 2022. The developers have stated that they need to “improve the quality of the title,” according to today’s tweet:
While it’s always worthwhile for developers to delay games that need polishing in order to deliver a working title and an enjoyable experience, this delay is quite unfortunate for anyone who pre-ordered the Deluxe edition of Valkyrie Elysium. It has been made clear that owners will not receive their copy until the new release date.
Valkyrie profile is the first episode in the series, so it would help new fans retrace the origin of the story. Without it, it could be very disappointing for newcomers who expected to learn about the origins of the story before playing the latest title.
That Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth addition would also be a long-in-the-making re-release and a selling point for the Deluxe Edition. Still, die-hard fans quickly noticed that the new release date of December 22nd doesn’t sync with Valkyrie profile original release in Japan, back in 1999. It’s a nice way to try to keep the synergy.
It is still unclear whether Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth release is a direct port or a remaster. Fans are hoping for the latter, as a direct port probably shouldn’t require the developers to “improve the quality” much.
Also, delaying the game for three whole months seems pretty long-winded if they’re only fixing a few technical issues. Of course, the 2018 release of the Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth naturally had features like the original Valkyrie profile did not do.
