The Man Who Erased His Name Announced for Release in 2024 – Effinate Games

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio recently announced a new Yakuza prequel game in the recent RGG Summit Live Stream. This prequel will focus on Kazuma Kiryu, the protagonist of Yakuza 1-6. It is titled Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.

A trailer accompanied the announcement showing Kiryu meditating while being referred to as “Joryu”. It also shows him taking a contract from a mysterious man.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Details

Not much is known about the plot of Like a Dragon Gaiden other than that it takes place in the summer of 2018. The game takes place between the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and the recently announced Like a Dragon 8. Kazuma Kiryu returns in this prequel as the protagonist after his sudden disappearance from Yakuza 6 where it appears he faked his death.

Like a Dragon Gaiden will be half the size of Like a Dragon 8 according to Ryu Ga Gotoku. Furthermore, it will also feature the familiar side activities available in the previous Yakuza games featuring Kiryu. Although there is not much about the location of the game, there is a good chance that it will take place in a new setting.

Like a Dragon Gaiden isn’t the only game in the Yakuza series to be announced recently. Like a Dragon 8 was also announced, which will feature Kiryu alongside Yakuza: Like a Dragon protagonist Ichiban Kasuga. They will apparently be co-protagonists in this game, which will be released in 2024.

In addition to that, the remake of Like a Dragon: Ishin! was also announced during the PlayStation State of Play. This will feature Kiryu taking on the role of Sakamoto Ryoma, a historical Japanese figure.

The release date for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is set for 2023 and will be released on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
