S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Postponed as Preorders Get Canceled – Effinate Games

STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl 2: Heart of Chernobyl was not supposed to launch until April 2022. Developer GSC later announced another delay, which would see the game delayed to December 8, 2022. While December looked like when we would finally get the STALKER sequel, it’s getting delayed again.

STALKER 2 delayed to unconfirmed date

Polish website XGP has revealed screenshots of messages sent to the people who pre-ordered the game.

STALKER 2 Pre-orders cancelled

The message reads:

'Thank you for pre-ordering S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl 2: Heart of Chernobyl. The availability date of this title has been changed to an unconfirmed date in the future. Due to this change, we have canceled your pre-order and refunded your payment costs. Follow for information about a future release date for this title.'

How much lag can the game face?

Considering that even the pre-orders have been refunded, the game could be pushed quite far. Although no one saw the delay coming, there could be several reasons for it. The biggest reason may be the ongoing war in Ukraine, as GSC is a Ukrainian studio. This is what primarily caused the last delay and may be the culprit this time as well.

We will have to wait longer for STALKER 2 the longer the conflict in Ukraine continues. Although the creators from GSC Game World stated in May that they will resume development of the game and move there, it is unknown how quickly they are currently progressing with their production.

After GSC Game World revealed that it will release the long-awaited STALKER sequel to the action-adventure franchise, the whole world erupted. After all, it’s been about 15 years since the original STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl was released. The fans have been waiting for the match to a great extent, and the delay could be really sad.

While there has been speculation that the game may even be cancelled, we don’t think that’s the case. We already got a gameplay trailer for the game and it looked like a finished product. Unreal Engine 5 is the game engine used and we know it’s stable, so a complete cancellation might be off the charts.
