Resident Evil 4 Remake Coming to Playstation 4 – Effinate Games

Capcom announced that the Resident Evil 4 remake will also be coming to Playstation 4. This was announced at the recent Tokyo Games Showcase. It was previously confirmed that the game would only be coming to Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. But now it seems that Capcom has changed its decision regarding this. It is not certain if the remake will also come to Xbox One.

Resident Evil 4 Remake: What We Know So Far

The Resident Evil 4 remake was officially announced during the PlayStation State of Play in June this year. A trailer was revealed showing Leon Kennedy, the protagonist with modern graphics and a brief outline of the plot. Before its publication, there were a lot of rumors and leaks related to it.

It’s not surprising that Resident Evil 4 is getting a remake because Resident Evil 2 and 3 were also remade. In 2018, M-Two, then Capcom Division 1 (the flagship Resident Evil studio), took the reins of development.

Capcom’s promotional producer Edvin Edso has indicated that the remaster will retain the “essence” of the original while reaching “state-of-the-art quality for a survival horror.” To keep it feeling new and old at the same time, they “recreate the story, improve the graphics and update the controls to a modern standard”. Therefore, the plot and gameplay are likely to undergo some minor changes.

When it was released in 2005, Resident Evil 4 was met with acclaim from fans and critics alike. The game’s off-the-shoulder third-person point of view was later adopted by a wide variety of titles. By the end of 2021, nearly 11.4 million copies have been sold. It has been remastered before, but this is the first time it has been completely remade from scratch.

The PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions of the game will be released on March 24, 2023. It will also support PSVR2. More details about the Resident Evil 4 remake will be shared at the Resident Evil Showcase next month.
