PS Plus announces Need for Speed and more for September lineup – Effinate Games

PS Plus has officially announced the new titles that fans can expect next month, including Need for Speed Heat, Toem and Granblue Fantasy: Versus for essential subscribers. A few more will join PS Plus on September 20, including classic titles and exclusives for Extra and Premium subscribers such as Deathloop. Here’s the full announcement from PlayStation’s feed:

Overall, the additions show that PS Plus is slowly starting to find its footing. There’s a fair selection of games available across generations, which might be a problem for those who haven’t been able to get their hands on a PS5 yet.

There is also a good selection of AAA titles which add the most value to the service, including several Ubisoft games such as Assassin’s Creed Origins and Watchdogs 2. But these are only for Extra and Premium members. Need For Speed may be a beloved franchise, but most gamers probably already own it. Prime subscribers still aren’t getting their money’s worth.

Empty is probably the most exciting announcement today. And for higher subscription levels, there are more than a few indie games that deserve to be featured. Xbox Game Pass has been a notable champion of overlooked, underrated games that tend to succeed when they launch to the service on day one.

PS Plus still needs to do more to compete with other services. Adding classics like Strainer filter 2 is definitely a step in the right direction. Oddities like the forgotten PSPs Toy Story 3 is also a welcome surprise.

The upcoming classics for September are undoubtedly an improvement over some of the recent additions. For a full list of the upcoming games, check out the official blog post here.
