Phil Spencer says More Acquisitions Could Happen and No Price Increase on Xbox – Effinate Games

Whether it’s Game Pass or their latest acquisition, there’s no doubt that Microsoft has grown a lot lately. At their recent showcases, Xbox also announced tons of new content for the consoles as well as for Game Pass.

If you thought the recent Activision and Blizzard deal was the last Microsoft will do, you’re wrong. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has stated that Microsoft will continue to grow and not stop where it is right now.

More acquisitions for Microsoft

In a interview with CNBC, Phil Spencer said they are always looking to grow. Spencer said:

'It’s a highly, highly competitive market. We strive to be a major player here. We want to deliver great content for our players and we’re going to remain active, whether that’s investing in our internal teams that are already building great games that people know and love, whether it’s building new partnerships.”

Spencer further added that Sony is a bigger business than Microsoft, but they are always investing. Similarly, Tencent is the biggest name in the gaming industry and they also continue to invest heavily.

At their recent TGS showcase, Microsoft revealed that they are now finally the largest shareholders in the Asian market. The market was previously dominated by Sony and Nintendo. With Microsoft being very positive about the Activision deal, there’s only one way they can go from here, and that’s forward.

No price increase on Xbox consoles

Recent years have not been kind to businesses. We saw Sony raising the prices of the PlayStation 5 in various parts of the world to accommodate the surplus. While everyone expected Microsoft to follow suit, that won’t be the case.

In the CNBC interview when asked about price increases Spencer stated that raising the prices of the Xbox consoles in these times of global economic turmoil is not the best course of action for customers.

Microsoft also announced a ton of new games and stuff at TGS. A bunch of new games are scheduled for release on Day 1 on Xbox Game Pass. With Game Pass offering such great value and the Xbox now being much cheaper than the PlayStation 5, this can scare off many gamers.

Microsoft has also updated the Xbox a lot. Recent updates saw boot speed improve. They are also testing a new Dashboard screen which gives users easy access. All in all, Microsoft’s future looks bright.
