NIS America showcase announces 4 new games for 2023 – Effinate Games

Beloved Japanese game developer and publisher NIS has officially announced four new titles at today’s NIS America showcase, including corresponding trailers for each.

The titles are i.a GrimGrimoire OnceMore, Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook, Process of Eliminationand void* tRrLM2(); //Void Terrarium 2. All four games are expected to release sometime in 2023, with no confirmed launch dates.

Process of elimination the trailer showed a lot of style but absolutely no gameplay, frustrating curious fans who were interested in what kind of game it would actually be. It’s rare enough, but you can watch the full teaser on PlayStation’s YouTube channel:

The trailer description reveals that players will take on the role of a student who falls in with some detectives who have a serial killer hidden among them. Fans immediately drew comparisons to Danganronpaand the genre appears to be visual novel.

Monster Menu: The Scavenger’s Cookbook, meanwhile, has a full trailer that is very clear on what to expect. All you need to know is in the name that mixes a number of genres like SRPGs in an interesting way. It seems quite creative, but also dangerously messy. It also feels like more of a mobile game, despite the console release.

Void Terrarium was a rather unique little roguelite where players are a forgotten maintenance robot who must protect a little girl who is also the last human alive. The storytelling and artwork was very innovative, so hopefully the sequel will bring fresh mechanics without losing that spark. It is expected to be released in the spring of 2023.

Finally, another title is set for spring 2023, GrimGrimoire once more. The original game was a massive strategy and adventure hit from 2007, so this remaster has high expectations. It has already been released in Japan, so it will be great for the West to finally experience this classic with some modern features that would be sorely needed to enjoy today. This includes quality of life improvements such as adjusting the difficulty level.
