Nintendo Announces Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Effinate Games

Today, after months of leaks and rumors and Amazon listings, after years of waiting, Nintendo finally announced The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild’s long-awaited sequel. Welcome to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, coming on May 12, 2023.

At 40 minutes, it looks like Nintendo has finally kept the best for the fans, with no further information to be given beyond the release date and the ambiguous trailer.

Nintendo previously mentioned that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild would get a sequel. Regardless, they refused to give it a real name at the time. And now here we are. The trailer showed nothing but outdated writing and slanted drawings of some sort of historical figures on old walls. Then Link appears to open a gate only to parachute off the edge of a… floating island above Hyrule.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Teaser Trailer

Anyways, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’s release doesn’t seem to be that far off. So you can expect Nintendo to show more trailers and details in the coming weeks as we gradually close the gap between the game’s first teaser trailer and the release date.

Since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most influential games, not only for other Nintendo Switch games, but for the industry as a whole. What we can expect from its sequel is already breaking every high bar.

This Nintendo Direct was pretty unappealing to me, but a few announcements kept my interest. One of them was Tunic’s port announcement for the Nintendo Switch. It looks like the little fox will be playable on Nintendo Switch on September 27th, which happens to be the same day that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can play it.
