New Marvel’s Midnight Suns trailer recruits Blade, pleases Wesley Snipes fans – Effinate Games

Midnight Suns pits a team of Marvel comic book characters against Lilith, the Mother of Demons. Players will put together a custom character for the various matches, but they’ll also fight alongside plenty of recognizable faces. A handful of these heroes get some time in the spotlight through animated prequel shorts, and it’s a good thing it’s a spotlight and not sunlight — the latest character to be introduced is Blade.

As expected, the short one shows Daywalker cutting through a pack of stalking vampires. While Midnight Suns itself is similar to X-COM in its cinematography and gameplay, this series of shorts includes a 90s animated intro that many commentators seem to enjoy. Fans of the Wesley Snipes-led Blade films from the early 2000s are also quite satisfied – they have said as much in response to the short on Twitter. Midnight Suns’ heroes aren’t meant to be the same as those in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Mahershala Ali takes over the role in the movies anyway), but it’s nice to see Snipes fans embrace this version of Blade so quickly.

Blade is one of four heroes to get the animated short treatment. The list also includes Ghost Rider, Magik, and Nico Minoru, but the game’s list goes much deeper than that. The Season Pass will add additional DLC characters such as Deadpool, Morbius, Storm and Venom. Pre-ordering the game’s Legendary Edition gets you the season pass, and all versions include bonus skins. Pre-ordering even the Standard Edition means you get Dr. Strange’s Defenders outfit.

As for when you can try out all the different costumes, Marvel’s Midnight Sun’s release date is December 2nd. The strategy game is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC on Friday, while a Nintendo Switch version will arrive sometime after that. You can check out our Midnight Suns preview for more information as you count down the days to launch.
