Epic Games turns up the heat in Fortnite. Update v21.51 has arrived for Battle Royale mode and the game as a whole. It both unlocks some spicy weapons and makes important changes to the way the in-game store works.
First the guns blazing. From now until Tuesday 13 September at 9am ET / 6am PT holds Fortnite Fire with Fire Week. It comes with a number of new quests that we can help you complete if you’re having a hard time. You can start by arming yourself with the Dragon’s Breath Shotgun and the Primal Flame Bow, which has been uncurled. Firefly Jars will also spawn at a higher rate, as will Chug Cannons, which can be used to put out all of these fires. All four of these weapons can be found on the floor and in chests, and you can also use gold bars for Chug Cannons. As per The Fortnite Blogneither of the uncurved weapons nor the increased spawn rates apply as usual for competitive playlists.
IN another blog post, Epic explained some of the other big changes made with update v21.51. First, all purchases now require you to hold down the button instead of pressing it to complete the transaction – misclicks can happen. At the same time, the purchase cancellation and refund window has been extended. “You can now cancel in-game cosmetic purchases made with V-Bucks until you equip the item in-game or until 24 hours pass, whichever comes first,” the blog says. Don’t forget that you can also always check how much money you’ve spent on Fortnite.
Finally, update v21.51 makes some social changes. There are more privacy filters for in-game chat and parental controls have been moved to the main lobby menu. The latter should be good for all concerned parents of Fortnite players. Likewise, there are new privacy standards for anyone under 18 who creates a new account.
Expect these kinds of content updates to continue forever. Dataminers have already found the alleged Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse cosmetics. They are supposedly coming next season.
