Dying Light 2 was launched in 2022 by the developers Techland. It was a sequel to the original Dying Light released in 2015. At the time of the announcement, there were no DLCs with the sequel. Techland later announced that the game would get a DLC later.
Developers first announced that DLC ‘Bloody Ties’ would be released in June 2022, but later it was pushed to October. But today according to an official announcement, the DLC is further delayed by two months and will now be released in November.
The official announcement came today and the developers listed:
'We have taken the decision to postpone the launch of Bloody Ties until November 10th, to allow the team extra time to polish and squash bugs.'
They have further said that they will reveal more details about the DLC this Friday. A Discord link has also been dropped along with the announcement through which players can ask questions that will be answered in Friday’s Q/A session.
It’s a really strange move as the DLC has once again been delayed, but not by much time. But we’ve learned what happens to a game when you start it before it’s finished. Even if they can be fixed later with updates, that’s no excuse for releasing an unfinished game.
Bloody ties DLC was leaked before it was even announced. A datamine revealed that a gladiator-themed story DLC would soon arrive with Dying Light 2. The DLC has of course been titled ‘Bloody Ties’.
A story trailer dropped last month and revealed a lot about the game. The data mine turned out to be true as it is based on a Gladiator theme. You can watch the trailer here:
The description of the DLC reads:
'In Bloody Ties, players will embark on a new story adventure, you will reach the epicenter of death, wealth, and absolute splendor in a stunning location; The Carnage Hall. This old opera building is full of challenges and quests, surprising new weapon types, character interactions, and discoveries to uncover.'
Additionally, players who pre-order the DLC will gain access to the Aristocrat Pack, which includes an exclusive weapon and outfit. Techland also announced that they would be support the game for the next 5 years with added content. So that means we can expect more DLCs and expansion packs in the future as well.
Dying Light 2 DLC ‘Bloody Ties’ will be released on November 10th (if there are no more delays). It will be available on all platforms that Dying Light 2 is available on.
