Drago Noka, a resource management city builder set on the backs of dragons, just got an English trailer announcing its release window and platforms. The indie is currently slated for release on Steam and Nintendo Switch sometime this winter.
The trailer contains about a minute of gameplay that introduces key mechanics, characters, and quests. You can watch the full trailer on publisher PLAYISM’s official YouTube channel here:
The city building and farming genre has grown greatly since the inception of Crossing animalsas they fit comfortably with cheaper visuals and easily rack up a lot of playtime, making smaller titles look bigger than they really are.
Each of these new city builders has struggled to find their own niche to define a winning personality. E.g, Fae Farm was just announced yesterday with a focus on an adventurous setting filled with magic.
Drago Noka is mostly going through the motions in its announcement trailer, which shows plenty of woodchopping, farming and dialogue with the locals. However, it has also decided to mix RPG elements with its city builder, as players will do all this on the backs of various dragons.
In fact, the trailer ends with a battle between two massive dragons that run off in every corner of the screen Pokémon style. There’s also some gameplay footage of a dragon spreading fire across an 8-bit area.
It all has a very old school charm about it, like a middle ground Stardew Valley and The Legend of Zelda. So far, the game looks promising, provided it makes the most of the premise. However, it feels more limited in its potential and personality than some other competitors.
