Aero Fighters 3, a classic top-down bullet hell, launches onto mobile courtesy of the ACA NeoGeo Collection – Effinate Games

SNK and Hamster have released their latest title in their ever-growing collection of retro classics ported to mobile devices courtesy of the ACA NeoGeo collection. This time, players will be in for some classic shoot-em-up action thanks to Aero Fighters 3. This is about as old school as you can get, with nothing but a top-down view and constant bullet-hell action.

ACA NeoGeo has been a gift to all fans of retro games as they release a new title almost every week. These games range from fighting games like Samurai Shodown to beat-em-ups like Fatal Fury, or even old-school 2D side-scrolling with the likes of Metal Slug 4. With all these classics on offer, and that library growing every day, there are really something for everyone here.

As for Aero Fighters 3, it’s pretty simple to describe if you’ve played a bullet-hell/shoot-em-up before. You’ll take on the role of a one-of-a-kind jet fighter, blasting away at contextless faceless enemies as the stages get progressively harder. It’s all played from a vertical perspective, and each enemy will come straight at you from the top of the screen.

This loop is freshened up by the introduction of power-ups and various weapons that you can pick up as you move through this vertical landscape. These weapons can range from a shotgun-like burst to extra missiles and power-ups like an extra life or a shield that can protect you from a hit or two.

An interesting part of Aero Fighters 3 is that it actually has something of a story, even though it’s light, even going so far as to include multiple endings and routes. This adds a lot of replay value and makes it super worth the low cost of entry if you’re a fan of the genre.

If you want to check it out for yourself, you can buy Aero Fighters 3 for just $3.99 at one of the links below! If you’d like to check out the entire ACA NeoGeo library, take a look at official website as well.
